Vice Chair Introduction: Martin Bagadion

 Hey, y'all!

My name is Martin Bagadion, my pronouns are he/they, and I am a Vice Chair for BMUN 71's JCC on the Algerian committee. This is my first ever experience in the Model UN world, so I'm excited to be in the space to learn alongside y'all. JCC has been putting in so much work to make this conference a great experience, so make sure to stay tuned for anything and everything BMUN!

I am currently a second-year studying Political Economics with a concentration in International Development and minoring in City & Regional Planning. In regard to my academic interests, I am passionate about anti-imperialist and decolonial theory, ethical development, international affairs, urban planning, activism, and Philippine culture (+ all the intersections of these topics!). Though I still have a lot to learn in my academic journey, I hope to provide any insight on any of these topics if you're interested!

Other than BMUN, I am the Gender and Sexuality Awareness Coordinator for the Pilipinx Academic Student Services, a recruitment and retention center for incoming and current Pil-students on campus. I work to represent and retain the queer and trans Pilipinx population at Berkeley and ground my work in social justice, education, and political mobilization. I am also involved in Delta Phi Epsilon, a premier and professional fraternity focused on international relations and foreign service. Lastly, I also work in the field of sexual violence prevention and advocacy as a Peer Educator.

Outside of my academic and professional life, I am a huge K-Pop and EDM fan, avid concert-goer, huge foodie! If any of that interests you, I would love to talk about it!

Please reach out if you have any questions and we look forward to seeing you soon.

In community,

Martin Bagadion (he/they)
